WHY HE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO HAVE INJECTABLES

WHY HE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO HAVE INJECTABLES

The professionals at Ultimate Skin & Body truly enjoy getting to know our patients as people and hearing about their lives. One theme filtering through a lot of pre-wedding makeovers is, “I could never tell my fiancé I’m getting dermal filler injections.” Why are grooms, and men in general, so negative about one of Australia’s most popular aesthetic enhancement treatments? We think it’s because they don’t have the facts. The Internet is filled with misconceptions regarding dermal fillers. Much of the content is well-intentioned, but based on out-of-date information. We’d like to stand up for cosmetic injectables and do a bit of myth-busting on behalf of dermal fillers for brides, women…and anyone who wants to rejuvenate, refresh or plump their face.

MYTH: DERMAL FILLERS RESULTS ARE FOREVER

A concern men have is that their partners will be unhappy with the volume injected and have to live with the results forever. Not true. The effects of most fillers are temporary, and the substance is reabsorbed into the body and eliminated between 3-12 months. (There are a few types of fillers that can last longer.) If a client is extremely unhappy with the results of a dermal filler treatment, the filler substance can be broken down with another substance called hyaluronidase. The effects of the treatment will reverse more quickly.

MYTH: DERMAL FILLERS MAKE YOUR FACE UNBALANCED

Just the opposite. Dermal fillers can be used to re-contour nearly a dozen different areas on the face to restore facial symmetry: • Define cheek bones • Lift cheeks • Soften tear troughs • Reduce nasolabial folds • Lift the corners of the mouth • Strengthen a jaw • Reduce jowls

MYTH: DERMAL FILLERS ARE THE SAME AS ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS

There is a myth that dermal fillers and anti wrinkle injections are the same thing. This causes some men to worry that their partners will end up with frozen faces after filler injections. Wrong. They are two different animals. Anti wrinkle injections paralyze facial muscles. Fillers restore volume and facial symmetry. More importantly, in the hands of an experienced injector, both treatments provide natural-looking results.

MYTH: DERMAL FILLERS LEAVE YOU BRUISED

One of the best-loved benefits of dermal filler treatments is that there is typically only minimal bruising and modest swelling. Both can be further minimised with a cold compresses, massage, and sleeping in an elevated position. Typically, swelling is at its peak the first morning after treatment and dissipates within 48 hours.

MYTH: YOU CAN NEVER STOP USING FILLERS ONCE YOU START

There is a misconception that when you stop filler injections your skin will sag and you will look worse than when you started. Wrong, again. Fillers replace lost volume. When they are injected correctly, the skin isn’t stretched. When the filler dissolves over time, your features will return to the way they looked pre-treatment. No worries!

MYTH: DERMAL FILLERS WILL EMPTY YOUR WALLET

The truth is that dermal fillers are one of the aesthetic industry’s most affordable enhancement options. Treatments are highly customised with costs reflecting the specific needs of the patient. Factors that influence cost include: • Treatment area(s) • Type of filler • Amount of filler required • Qualifications of injector Temporary fillers dissolve slowly and benefits can last anywhere from six to eighteen months, so frequent touch-ups are not necessary.

THE HANDS THAT HOLD THE NEEDLE

In the end, dermal filler injections are only as good as the person administering them. At Ultimate Skin & Body Clinic, our injectors have the training to know where to inject and the aesthetic skill to know how to give each person the results they want. If you’d like to know more about dermal fillers, we invite you (and your partner!) to contact us and book a complimentary consultation. We’ll make you both feel welcome.
